ABOUT THE ARTIST

Gwendoline Finaz de Villaine is a French painter, singer and writer. A former student of the Maîtrise Radio France, Sciences Po Paris and HEC, she worked with Michel Fugain, Elie Chouraqui, Roger Louret and Jean-Claude Camus. She sang at the Folies Bergère, at the Zénith, for M6, France Télévisions and in several musical comedies in Paris.

At the same time, she wrote a saga in three volumes, “Les Brumes de Grandville”, and released a fourth novel in January 2019, “De Poudre, de Cendre et d’Or” (French Pulp Éditions).

In June 2021, Gwendoline erected a monumental 30-meter fresco on one of the walls of Sorbonne Universités (Paris 5th), to raise awareness on the subject of student food insecurity. The same year, the artist was selected to paint vat no. 8 of the Les Carmes Haut-Brion winery designed by Philippe Starck in Bordeaux.

She is creating the fresco for the 140th anniversary of HEC Paris in December 2021. The artist exhibits at the Grand Palais in February 2022 (Art Capital).

In April 2022, the “Ailes d’HEC” are sold at auction by Christie’s Paris at the Palais Brongniart.

The artist covers the Place du Panthéon on June 3 and 4, 2022 with a monumental fresco in tribute to Joséphine Baker.

In December 2022, she carried out a happening by placing one of the doves from the Joséphine fresco at thefoot of the Fenice in Venice.

From June 1 to 7, 2023, Gwendoline is exhibiting at Place du Panthéon a monumental installation consisting of a 1000 square meter fresco accompanied by two 5 meter long dragon sculptures.

This work, born at the ephemeral Grand Palais on the occasion of NFT Paris in February 2023.

The artist exhibits at the Sichuan Art Museum in Chongqing (China) in November 2023.

In 2024, she presents “The Hanging Garden” at the Lycée français de New York, a fresco made from recycled materials created with the students.

In October 2024, she held a happening in Central Park with the exhibition of a ten-meter-long fresco in honor of the Olympic Games, followed by her first solo show at the Untitled Gallery in Tribeca.

Gwendoline is represented by the Ellia Art Gallery in Paris.
